Sanctity Of Life

Promoting the Sanctity of Human Life and the Right to Life for the Baby in the Womb

Refuting the culture of death as in abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, suicide & doctor-assisted suicide, Abortifacients, cloning & embryonic stem cell research, and the killing of excess babies, as in in-vitro-fertilization (selective reduction)

Introduction

In today’s humanistic culture, individuals are tinkering with ethical boundaries in science, namely genetics, pushing research and experimentation to the limit. In 1973, the monumental court case, Roe v. Wade, altered the bioethical playing field in the United States forever. For the first time in history, a mother could kill her unborn child without any legal consequences. Years later, a sheep named Dolly was cloned in a Scottish laboratory, and scientists around the world claimed they could clone human beings next. Likewise, stem cell research is one of the pivotal debates of the twenty-first century. In-vitro fertilization poses severe ethical concerns because it often leads to the destruction of excess embryos. Infanticide, euthanasia, and suicide, while not necessarily “scientific,” are issues also facing our modern “culture of death.”

Goals for Churches to Reducing Abortions

Christians are the only ones who can change the abortion culture in Richmond.

Christians will only move when educated and lead by their Pastors. The next important group is Doctors. Abortions can’t be performed if Doctors say ‘NO’ - we will not be involved in killing children.

The following are some suggestions that the Church can consider implementing.

Rally Held at Capital in Favor of Personhood bill

Specail ALERT at end of this article, please help fight for the rights of the unborn person!  See how a baby developes, heart chambers forming and heart beating only weeks after conception.

On the measure's first day in the Senate after it cleared the House on Tuesday, abortion opponents rallied at the state Capitol to support House Bill 1, which would define life as beginning at conception.

Nearly 100 people gathered Wednesday at Capitol Square's Bell Tower to advocate for the measure, wearing yellow scarves and carrying yellow balloons, along with "Support HB1" posters that depicted a baby.

The bill would impart the rights of "personhood" to a human embryo at the moment of conception, creating a civil cause of action for the wrongful death of an unborn child killed by the negligent or criminal act of a third party.

Are Va Gov. McDonnell’s VP Hopes Clouding His Judgement on Pro-Life HB1?

Does Governor McDonnell have his eyes on the V.P spot in November and is maneuvering to appease pro-choice advocates? See out cry from Virginia Christians.

Tom White: VARight: We hope not, but given the fact that Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell is often named on everyone’s short list for Vice President, and his strong support for Virginia’s anointed Republican candidate Mitt Romney, it is a question that is being raised often in Pro-life circles.

And we all know about the abortion flip-flops that Mitt Romney has made. He was for abortion before he was against it.

A CALL TO ACTION FOR VIRGINIA: Where there is a Heartbeat, There is a Life and it's Worth Protecting

It was 19 years after the infamous Roe v. Wade decision, which was based on a lie, that the Planned Parenthood of Southeastern PA. v. Casey decision in 1992 was issued. The “joint opinion” representing the views of the Court was written by Justices O'Connor, Souter, and Kennedy.  It contained a section that perked the interests of some legal scholars. One of them was Joe Tucker, a black law professor who said to me, “It's a shame that at least one state had not outlawed abortion prior to this ruling.”

Catholic and Pro-life Leaders Slam White House ‘compromise’ on Birth Control Mandate

WASHINGTON, February 10, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The White House announced today that, instead of forcing religious employers to pay for birth control, it will force insurance companies to offer the drugs free of charge to all women, no matter where they work.

The plan, put forward as a concession to freedom of religion, was immediately denounced by Catholic Rep. Chris Smith as fundamentally the exact same mandate.

What's Really at Stake - Leviathan’s Appetite

Make no mistake. The raging controversy over the Obama Administration’s refusal to exempt religious organizations from onerous health care mandates is a big deal. A very big deal.

But why? What’s really at issue here?

Despite what the media and the Obama Administration are telling you, it’s not just a battle between the so-called “archaic beliefs” of the Catholic Church on the one hand and advocates of women’s health on the other. It’s not just about access to abortion-inducing drugs, contraception, and sterilization, bad as that is.

Administration Expects Religious Groups to Fund Abortion Drugs

The Christian Legal Society is deeply troubled by the Administration’s refusal to reconsider its policy to coerce faith-based institutions to pay for abortion-inducing drugs.  Quite simply, the Administration’s deliberate indifference to Americans’ religious liberty is staggering.

Under the new health care law, the federal government mandates that all employers’ insurance plans include coverage of “preventive services.”  On August 3, 2011, the Department of Health and Human Services explicitly broadened “preventive services” to include mandated coverage of contraceptives, including abortion-inducing drugs.

One of our top priority pro-life bills in the VA General Assembly this year is a strong "Right to Life" bill also referred to "Wrongful Death" bill sponsored by Del. Bob Marshall (HB 1).  Unfortunately, Sen. Bill Stanley has just filed a much weaker and more problematic alternative (SB 674) that must be either withdrawn or defeated.

Outrageous Choice

Religious Freedom or Healthcare?

The Obama Administration's has shown its cards. It is using ideology to trump religious freedom.

I’ve told you that the Obama Administration is intentionally restricting religious freedom. I’ve told you we are in danger of losing the right to exercise our faith in public.

Well, maybe I’ve been too understated. The attack is relentless.

Just recently, the Obama Administration announced that the Affordable Healthcare Act, otherwise known as ObamaCare, requires that employers pay for contraception, including abortifacients, and that Catholic institutions are not exempt from this requirement.

Virginia Senate Passes Ultrasound Requirement for Abortions

RICHMOND

Virginia women seeking an abortion may soon be required to undergo an ultrasound first.

The Virginia Senate approved the requirement Wednesday on a 21-18 vote mainly along party lines. It is the first significant anti-abortion measure to pass the Senate since Republicans took effective control of the chamber following the fall elections; more are pending.

Controversial Bill Won't Affect Abortion

Controversial Bill Won't Affect Abortion

January 2012 Times Dispatch
The 2012 Session of Virginia's General Assembly will begin, quite literally, with controversy. Del. Bob Marshall's House Bill 1 has already created a heated ideological debate by recognizing that life begins at conception and declaring that unborn children and their parents have protectable legal interests.

The philosophical impetus for the bill is obvious to anyone familiar with Marshall's record as a champion of the pro-life movement in Virginia, but many critics are way off base with their allegations that the law would dramatically change abortion law in the commonwealth. In fact, the only practical, immediate effect of the law would be to create a civil cause of action for the wrongful death of an unborn child. In other words, it would enable the natural parents of an unborn child to sue a third party for damages if he or she wrongfully causes the death of their unborn baby.
