Dr. Walsh is a scientist and professor at the VCU Medical Center. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He teaches medical students, dental students, graduate students and residents. He has over one hundred publications and is a nationally and internationally recognized scientist. His research is with pregnant women and concerns the problems of preterm birth (i.e., babies born too early) and high blood pressure during pregnancy.

Dr. Walsh has been giving apologetic talks on evolution, creation and the Bible for over 7 years. He has given talks at churches, on the VCU medical and academic campuses, for middle school children at a Christian school, and at a juvenile detention center. His goal is to strengthen people's faith in the Bible and to defend the Word of God against the secular atheistic teaching of evolution and millions of years.

Topics on Evolution, Creation and the Bible

I am a scientist and professor at a major Medical Center, but also a conservative Bible believing Christian. I believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. I consider myself a young earth creationist. I believe in six ordinary days of creation and a worldwide flood at the time of Noah. I have been giving apologetic talks on evolution, creation and the Bible for over 8 years. I have given talks at churches; middle school, high school and adult Sunday School classes; on medical and academic campuses, for middle school children at a Christian school, and at a juvenile detention center. All I need is a projection device for PowerPoint presentations.

Why A Scientist Believes in God Rather than Evolution

It takes faith to believe that God, an intelligent designer, created the heavens and the earth and is the giver of life. However, it takes more faith to believe that the heavens and the earth created themselves out of nothing and that life originated from non-living materials. Christianity is a reasonable faith because there is abundant evidence that things with form, purpose and function are created by intelligent designers. However, there is no evidence that random chance processes can create things with form, purpose and function. This presentation will compare the Christian worldview with the evolutionary worldview with regard to three of the pillars of evolution: 1) Did the universe create itself or was it created by an all-powerful God? 2) Did life create itself or did God create life? 3) Did we evolve by random chance accidents over millions of years from a single-celled organism by numerous, successive, slight modifications, or did God create us? Each question will be examined to determine which worldview is more based on faith or more based on observable evidence. (This talk was given at a juvenile detention center after which over a dozen kids accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.)

Radioisotope Dating: Is the Earth Really 4.6 Billion Years Old?

This talk will present the basic principles of radioisotope dating that date the age of the earth to millions and billions of years. These radioisotope methods are based on assumptions that cannot be proven. In fact, studies have shown that the assumptions of radioisotope dating are not reliable. For example, newly formed rock from Mt. St. Helens known to be less than 10 years old was dated to over 1 million years. Most methods of dating the earth, give a young age consistent with the Bible of approximately 6,000 years. The evidence for a young earth will be discussed.

Dinosaurs - Did They Really Die Out 65 Million Years Ago?

Dating of dinosaur and other fossils to millions of years is based on evolutionary assumptions and the un-provable speculation that the layers of the earth were laid down by slow gradual processes. This talk will show that there is good evidence that dinosaurs lived in recent times alongside people. People groups all over the world have legends of dragons, which likely refer to dinosaurs. The Old Testament uses the Hebrew word for “dragon” 21 times, and the Book of Job describes dinosaur-like creatures. Carvings and drawings of dinosaurs-like creatures have been found that date earlier than the discovery of dinosaur fossils. A catastrophic global flood best explains why so many fossils are found in sedimentary strata all over the earth. Recent findings of soft pliable blood vessels and tissues still present in the fossilized bones of a T. rex are best explained in that dinosaurs died out relatively recently rather than millions of years ago.

Noah’s Ark and the Flood

Noah’s Ark and the Flood is one of the most interesting stories in the Bible to Christians, but one of the most criticized by evolutionists. Was Noah’s Ark and the Flood a real event? This talk will present a feasibility study as to how all the animals could fit on the Ark. It will show the enormous capacity of the Ark with a carrying capacity of 522 railroad boxcars. It will discuss what the Bible means by a “kind” of animal and how Noah only had to take approximately 4,000 animals on board. This talk will also demonstrate how a worldwide flood at the time of Noah best explains the formation of the Grand Canyon and the formation of fossils.

Sanctity of Life

This talk deals with the sanctity of life from the time of conception to the end of life based on the Bible. Ethical and scientific problems of embryonic stem cell research will be discussed. Research with embryonic stem cells will be distinguished from research with adult or non-embryonic stem cells for which research shows promising treatments for over 70 different diseases, injuries and conditions. The talk will discuss why abortion is wrong and how we develop as a continuum from the moment of conception to our adult life with each stage important and essential. Lastly, the problems and consequences of physician-assisted suicide will be discussed.
