RICHMOND, VA (WTVR) - A gay pride flag flying above the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond is creating a debate.
The Richmond Federal Reserve says it plans to fly the flag through the month of June. President Obama issued a proclamation recognizing the LGBT community for the month of June.
Thursday, Virginia Delegate Bob Marshall (R - Manassas) wrote a letter to the bank’s president that read, “A flagpole in front of a federal building is not a commercial or political message board.”The Federal Reserve System is a quasi-governmental body run by private companies, and protected by federal officers who are not officially civil servants.
Chesterfield pastor Bishop Gerald O. Glenn, says the bank should not be a forum for social issues.
