Ron Bessette is a native of Randolph, MA, a suburb of Boston. He went to Northeastern University and received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1977. He came to Virginia and graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1979. He has been working for Hayes, Seay, Mattern and Mattern, now AECOM, for the past 32 years designing heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for commercial buildings. Ron is married to Polly and has two grown sons. They live in Roanoke, VA. In 1978 he became a Christian. He has done volunteer work leading Bible studies at Roanoke City Jail for about five years. He was also a Big Brother in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program for about five years. In April of 2001 he was challenged to look at the Bible as it was written concerning the amount of time God took to create the heavens and the earth. After much prayer and study he concluded that God's Word can be trusted when He plainly tells us that He created the heavens and the earth in six ordinary days about 6,000 years ago. Ron has led several multi week seminars on the authority of the Bible and how it can be trusted to mean what it states concerning the creation account.
